Now is the time to start seriously thinking about the Medical College Admissions Test (MCAT). The MCAT is historically taken during the spring semester of your JUNIOR YEAR of college. That’s right, more than a full year in advance.

The American Association of Medical Colleges (AAMC) which owns and administers the MCAT has just announced that registration for this spring’s administration has just opened up on the AAMC website (https://www.aamc.org/students/applying/mcat/). Students who know precisely when they want to take the MCAT should register right away. Students who are not sure should finalize their plans now and then register immediately.

Preferred dates and locations fill up rapidly and it is in your best interest to get your slot reserved so you can start studying for the exam. For DO programs the site is https://aacomas.aacom.org/, for MD programs the site is http://www.aamc.org/students/amcas/start.htm. These applications are complex and take a lot of time but it is also important to get the applications in early. Most medical schools work on what is called a rotating admissions plan. These plans favor applicants that apply early in the admissions cycle. For this reason DO NOT PUT OFF APPLYING UNTIL THE DUE DATE! APPLY NOW! This process is not like a college assignment where the most important date is the due date. In this system the most important date is the first date that you are allowed to get into the pool.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09381933328061238815noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8968966665935479253.post-63078533390262792492010-04-25T20:29:00.001-04:002010-04-25T20:31:28.671-04:00Dinner at Damon's!Doug is paying for dinner at Damon's on April 26th at 6:30pm.
